(2020 – 2021) Strengthening Health System Capacity on Community Based care for Effective Depression Management in Thai Nguyen province, Vietnam

144,355 USD funded by the Johnson and Johnson Foundation: This is a 1 year project (started in March 2020) with Thai Nguyen Department of Health and Thai Nguyen Mental Health Hospital, Hanoi Medical University as key partners. BNVN aims to implement the Collaborative Stepped Care Model for Depression Management in 10 selected sites in Thai Nguyen province, for a general population diagnosed with depression. The expected results of the project are:

  • Strengthening the capacity of health staff and social support network at all level on community-based depression management
  • Delivering mental health care services at the local existing primary health care system following the collaborative stepped care approach
  • Promoting mental health and improving public awareness on mental health
  • Successfully advocating for holistic community depression care services to the health leaders and policy makers
