Our Story

Modern society has brought about improved material values, but followed by social pressure, psychological distress, and dilemmas. Every day, we’re bound to face many stressful situations regarding finance, work, career path, study, family… All these issues, if not timely detected and tackled appropriately will get worse with time, affecting the quality of life of each individual, family, and community.

It’s not hard to find disheartening stories shared on journals or social media on how well-known artists gave up on their career, involved in substances abuse, or resorted to suicide; stories on how mothers ruined their children’s lives and their own; or students who failed the university entrance exams choosing to leave this life. Those are the stories that got the media’s attention because of the victims’ positions in society or the severity of the case. But in reality, the other hidden side still contains countless similar faces and unshared stories and the crisis keeps on deteriorating people’s mental lives.

With the aim to facilitate the release of stress, fatigue, and emotional pain as well as the adding of joy and positive energy to the mental health of Vietnamese people, BasicNeeds Viet Nam was founded in 2010 to establish a system that support community development and nurturing the Vietnamese people’s mental health.
